PROJECT TWO Part B: Graphic Display

DUE: MONDAY October 20, 2014

Here's the class sample.  Sample Project #2B  


Here are the standards discussed & listed on the board.

* Different texture/picture for Chart Area and Plot Area.


* Chart Title must identify company name and time period (“January – October 2014”)


* Vertical Axis Title must be added; name of the variable (e.g. "STOCK PRICE") should be all CAPS, 18 point font and bold; unit of comparison (“$ Per Share”) should be included with 12 point font and not in bold


* Horizontal Axis Title must be added; name of the variable (e.g. "TIME") should be all CAPS, 18 point font and bold; unit of comparison (“# of Months  Since January 2014”) should be included with 12 point font and not in bold


* Trendline added.  Make trendline solid, thick 8 point width and light gradient color.


* Trendline Equation added to upper right hand side of display; equation is written in context with “y” replaced with name of variable (“Price”) and “x” replaced with name of variable (“Time”).  In the equation, put $ signs on the slope and y-intercept and round them to the nearest cent.


* Exactly five Vertical Axis Labels should be shown with $ sign and numbers shown with two decimal places (cents).  Adjust maximum and minimum on the vertical axis so the data points fill most of the Plot Area.  Font size should be increased to 12 point and made bold.


* Exactly five Horizontal Axis Labels should be shown, all rounded to the nearest digit (0, 3, 6, 9, 12).   Font size should be increased to 12 point and made bold.


* The three text boxes for the two Axis Titles and the Trendline Equation should be filled with solid light color, and made 3-D (increase points to 8 point 3-D on all settings).


* Outside edges of chart should be made 3-D, have a lot of glow and have an easily visible solid dark border (increase to 5 point size).


* Increase size of ALL Data Markers so stock prices can be displayed within them.  Post stock prices in 12 point and boldHighest stock price should be red fontLowest stock price should be blue font.  All other stock prices should be black font .   Most recent data marker should have the same fill color as the axis title and trendline equationAll other Data Markers should have yellow fill.


* In Word, type the following above the display replacing the underlined words to match your stock. Use Word Art to dress up display.

“This linear model predicts the Kellogg’s price per share will increase $ .05 per month.  At this rate, the predicted Kellogg’s share price will be $63.20 in early December 2014.  Recent share price trends do not support this prediction.” 


* Type the following below the display replacing the underlined words with your conclusion.  Use Word Art to dress up display.

“I believe the stock price will actually decrease $2.00 per month from its October 2014 close of $59.70.  I predict Kellogg’s stock will trade for $55.70 per share in early December 2014.”


* Identify by ONLY Student ID and period number on the back of your submitted work.
