Highlight Three: Students develop marketable job skills.

job interview

Business Statistics blends theory with application to develop skills that employers seek. Most students finish the year with expanded job prospects.  They are more likely to be hired, and less likely to be relegated to the reception desk or warehouse.

All projects and many assignments serve as an extension of the student’s resume.  Students document their  knowledge of the statistical and finance content through work products that can be directly submitted to potential employers either in digital or printed form.  In my career, I have hired about 100 employees and interviewed ten+ times that number.  I have seen first hand how tangible demonstrations of marketable skills advantage an interviewee.  Showing what they could do was always more meaningful than merely telling me what they could do.  This advantage is particularly true for internship and early career opportunities where resumes tend to be sparse.
